noise in coupled dots and the “ fractional charges ”
We consider the problem of shot noise in resonant tunneling through double quantum dots in the case of interacting particles. Using a many-body quantum mechanical description we evaluate the energy dependent transmission probability, the total average current and the shot noise spectrum. Our results show that the obtained reduction of the noise spectrum, due to Coulomb interaction, can be inter...
متن کاملFractional shot noise in the kondo regime.
Transport through quantum dots in the Kondo regime obeys an effective low-temperature theory in terms of weakly interacting quasiparticles. Despite the weakness of the interaction, we find that the backscattering current and hence the shot noise are dominated by two-quasiparticle scattering. We show that the simultaneous presence of one- and two-quasiparticle scattering results in a universal a...
متن کاملShot-noise evidence of elementary charge fission into fractional charges in a quantum Hall regime
We have experimentally evidenced an elementary charge fission, in which an elementary charge in an integer quantum Hall (IQH) system breaks up into fractional charges at a local fractional quantum Hall (FQH) state. Shot-noise measurements establish the e/3-charge of tunneling quasiparticles through the local FQH state, which is prepared in a low-density region near a quantum point contact (QPC)...
متن کاملEnhanced shot noise in tunneling through a stack of coupled quantum dots.
We have investigated the noise properties of the tunneling current through vertically coupled self-assembled InAs quantum dots. We observe super-Poissonian shot noise at low temperatures. For increased temperature this effect is suppressed. The super-Poissonian noise is explained by capacitive coupling between different stacks of quantum dots.
متن کاملCotunneling current and shot noise in quantum dots.
We derive general expressions for the current and the shot noise, taking into account non-Markovian memory effects. In generalization of previous approaches, our theory is valid for an arbitrary Coulomb interaction and coupling strength and is applicable to quantum dots and more complex systems such as molecules. A fully consistent diagrammatic expansion up to second order in the coupling stren...
